DIY: Feather Hair Bow

Hola! Its time to go back to school again (not to mention mid-terms in a week. bleh). Well here's another diy for you guys! This one takes about 10 minutes to do. Don't be afraid to get creative with different colors!

Supplies:

feathers
felt
hot glue gun
gemstones
bobby pins
scissors

Prep: Start heating up the glue gun. Trim the feathers to your desired length and shape. Cut a small piece of felt the size of the gemstone you'll be using.

1. Take the two larger feathers and place them together in a bow shape. Apply a small amount of glue in the middle. Repeat this step with the smaller feathers, and then attach the two together.
2. Cut two small slits in the middle of the felt piece. Slip the bobby pin through the slits and dab a small amount of glue to secure it.
3. Take the gemstone and place it at the center of the bow, add some glue and press it down.
4. Flip the bow over and line up the felt with the gem and glue the felt down.

Yay! Another cute accessory to add to your collection!

an old watch

1. Cut off the old straps.

2. Slide the ribbon through both of the loops of the watch.

3. Leave enough ribbon in order to tie it around your wrist.

Now you have a quick and easy way to refresh an old watch!

Beauty Book: Liquid Liner

For those who haven't tried liquid liner or those who do and need some fresh ideas, this is definitley for you!

For beginners, when buying liquid liner pick out a felt tip pen which is easier to use rather than a brush tip.
When applying keep a damp cotton swab nearby. Tilt your head down slightly in order to see your lash line clearly. Start at the eyes inner corner or the middle of the eye, whatever you prefer, and draw one clean stroke. Then go over the line again to fix any imperfections and to get your desired thickness.

Cat Eye:
Follow the above step, then thicken the line at the middle of the eye to the outer corner. Once you reach the outer corner flick the brush at a slight upward angle. It may help to close your eye and follow the line you already drew and go upward that way. This look can take a lot of practice, but once you have it down its no problem!

For a more surprising way to wear liquid liner, colors are the way to go. Wearing colorful eyeliner isn't as extreme as colored shadows, making it easier to wear.

While choosing a colored liner stay away from reds, pinks, or anything else in that color family because it tends to make you look sick. If you're having trouble picking a color stick with jewel tones and you'll be fine.

Eyeshadow:

When wearing liquid liner pick neutrals that are close to your skin tone. Fair skin; light beige or a shimmery champange. Medium skin; a golden brown or bronze. Dark skin; a rich chocolate brown or a dark copper.

DIY: Glitter Dipped Earrings

Hey everyone!! I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas!! Here's a diy I came up with and used as gifts for my friends. These earrings are perfect for new years parties, going out, or for everyday. It takes 15 minutes or less to make them and all supplies can be bought at a local craft store. Let me know what you think!! :)

Supplies:

glitter
feathers
clamps
paintbrushes
glue
earring posts
pliers

Prep: Its probably a good idea to lay down some newspaper so its easier to clean up. Trim the feathers to your desired shape. Find an old paintbrush for the glue and a decent one for the glitter.

1. Draw a line of glue a little less than halfway across the feather and then fill below the line with an even layer

of glue.

2. Dip the other paintbrush in the glitter and tap on the brush so the glitter falls onto the glue. Wait for it to dry a bit and then shake off the excess glitter.

3. Slide the feather through the clamp so there is enough for the clamp to grab on. Close the clamp with the pliers.
4. Bend the earring just enough to slide the loop of the clamp onto it. Then close your earring.

Et voila! A new pair of fun earrings for you or a friend!

Well i'm back from the dead. i havent been on here in ages. between college applications and being in the hospital i havent given this blog the time of day in months. im going to be doing a lot more of beauty posts because theyre easier for me to do in short amounts of time. moving on...its almost christmas! Yay! im pretty excited for it (mostly for the break from school). getting your wisdom teeth out is a pain, literally. ive been rocking the chipmunk look for a few days now. I've been dying to do an outfit post lately, but from the lack of photography skills and not being too photogenic. I've decided to at least share some of my jewelry collection and details of some of the crap in my closet. other than that I've started to re-work my wardrobe which is always fun to do. i mean who doesn't love shopping?

Spring Fever

I'm pretty sure I've caught a bad case of spring fever. Soon I'll be counting how many school days are left. I also got sucked into all things prom (which i promised myself I wouldn't), but I will definitely share some pictures of that when it happens. :)

Sheer Genius

I promised to put this up awhile ago, so finally here's my most recent sketch. Its kinda like a collection they all have one thing in common...sheer fabric detailing. It might be somewhat hard to tell its sheer cause of the quality but I tried to edit it so its somewhat visible.

I haven't updated in awhile since the quarter ended and I needed to catch up on my work. sorry about that. So now that I have more free time I think I'll spend my time sketching more. Well enjoy the rest of the week everyone! :)

Sorry, I've getting behind in my drawings, projects, etc. so in place of a formal post, every now and then ill put up pictures of a "fashion journal" i keep. at first i used it for art class, but now every so often i cut up pictures from magazines and glue 'em in here. its sorta like an inspiration board sometimes.

this one in particular is really old (April '09). i was new to the fashion world at the time. its really fun to do and it helps you become familiar with designers products. some of the comments are pointless (i do not hate Chanel)--what can i say i was a newbie. sorry if its a bit difficult to read. ill be putting up some sketches soon, pinky-promise!

okay so this is a bit different from what i usually do just thought id mix it up. so these are some products that would be ideal to have during spring/summer. lately the thing is bright lips in hues of pinks and corals. eyeshadows in gold and teal eyeshadows applied lightly for a subtle and chic shimmer or apply it heavier for a bold shock of color. a bold, green nail polish is also a growing trend as well as foil polishes. blushes in a deep rose or coral color are in for the season. you cant forget the perfect tan without the harsh effects of the sun bronzer for the face and a lotion or spray for the body. also dont forget to keep you skin in best condition with a moisturiser with SPF and a spot treatment to fight off those pesky blemishes.

Hello everyone! I promised id show you the rest of the headbands i made so here they are. i really need to go out shopping its been too long. im loving all the spring pieces that are out the colors and the prints are fabulous. however in order for me to get all these spring goodies i might need a job to pay for them. ; )

for this one all i did was cut out felt in the shape i wanted and sewed glass beads onto it.

for this one i just took the trimmings from the peacock feather with some large black ones.

it was so warm outside, then some stupid wind storm had to come ruin it. So this is my first diy headband. its also my favorite one. i got the feathers at a craft store and the headband from H&M. its a really easy project anyone can do it.

you can get more creative using other feathers and materials. i also made one with peacock feathers but i gave that one away. ill show the other two i made next time. happy weekend!

so I've been doing a bunch of diys lately, so i thought id share some. first ill show you the ring i made on Tuesday. it took me an hour (i was watching tv most of the time though ; ] ) so i wanted a ring that i could wear and lately I'm obsessed with double rings! i love them! so i was scavengering around for materials and i ended up using paperclips and pliers. here's how it turned out:

Haven't been up to much lately. I don't know if it's just me or what, but every time i go to a party i feel as if I've gained ten pounds. its so bad that i never have anything to say but its true. Over the weekend I've been exploring style.com, and I fell in love with Marchesa's spring rtw collection. The pieces are beautifully constructed, with intricate details. So this is my one of my favorite places at the mountains i love it "fern forrest" -as i call it. the first three photos are from the morning before we shot some of me :P and the last three are of the forrest at sunset. i really want to go back its such a beautiful place for taking photos. ill put up some pictures of the river later. so i guess ill say this is kind of a teaser...maybe? well i got to go get everything ready for school tomorrow :/ bye!

With a Broken Wing

well this week i really was doing nothing but sitting around enjoying my last week of summer before school starts. i spent the weekend at the mountains :/ i planned on going there for awhile to get some pictures for outfit posts. so 1st i forgot most of the clothes i wanted to take and then when i did go to take them...well things didn't happen as i planned. we got what looked like good pictures on my camera but my camera is really getting on my nerves b/c i uploaded them and they're all messed up there are one or two i really liked. so ill put them on later.

the above pictures are just from earlier in the week in my front yard and a future sketch I'm working on. and the one butterfly's wing was all bent up but it was still beautiful.

I finally got up to scanning my "new" sketches. The above sketch I did in March inspired by Teen Vogue's supplement for prom (the skirt is feathered).

Love, love, love! Christian Dior's Fall runway collection. It was equestrian-themed. The collection included old country wool jackets and skirts, leather dresses, must have knits for fall, and plenty of chiffon dresses to go around. The georgette dresses were just beautiful, however, it was said that there was so many that it went toward more of what Galliano does in his own collection. Anyway...I freaking have to have those thigh-high boots and tights. I abosolutly love the jacket Karlie Kloss is wearing (top left). Also love how the leather pieces and the chiffon dresses were paired together; it creates such contrast. Also I love how the model is really rocking her that dress (middle left). Celine Pre-Fall

These are a few of my favorites from Celine's pre-fall collection. Which includes high-waisted trousers, the beloved skinny jean, strong primary colored heels, and focusing on outerwear. I love how it gets your attention with the bright colors, but yet not overly loud. Its very minimalistic and playful. The outerwear pieces are remarkable too. Mini Haul

I went shopping on Friday and i found a bunch of great deals. Okay i got the ELLE shirt for about $5.80 and it was originally like $26 i think. Then i got 2 necklaces i needed a silver one. the "bib" was $25 and i got it for $4 and then the biggest steal was the Vera Wang necklace that was $60 and i got it for $12. i was excited! i wore the purple shirt and the chain necklace to the concert along with dark skinnys and black sandals. then i hit up Forever 21 and got a shirt for $7 and a headband that i love!

I also picked up a pair of school shoes but i forgot to keep in mind that i have to wear socks with them so i ended up returning them :( so now i must find shoes and a cute backpack in 2 weeks (for me thats not long). bye.

Feelin' Alive

So yesterday i went to the Jonas Brothers' concert (if you didn't know I'm a fan). It was also my first concert in general. I had so much fun! Demi Lovato was opening for them along with the cast of camp rock. I didn't really mind that, I was really there for the Jonas Brothers, more specifically, Nick. Well I bought a $35 dollar t-shirt, which pry cost $10 to make but either way I don't really mind. The only terrible thing was my camera had a seizure and died. I brought other batteries and they didn't work. They should really sell those there they'd make a lot more money. So I only got pictures of Demi and only one blurry picture of Nick on the screen since I couldn't waste any battery juice zooming in. Minus that nothing bad happened. Now I really want to see them again and I would really love to meet them!

I've been spending too much time on polyvore lately, but i like this one. so I'm sharing it. moving on...

well i scheduled this post in advanced so, anyway...last week i finished up a project i started awhile ago. i got the idea from here: http://www.teenvogue.com/style/tips/diy/2008/01/generra_20080103#slide=1. so i decided to review it. the only problem that i found in the instructions was in step 2- it tells you to sew the hem closed-don't. instead do the shirring first, trim the hem to the new size and then sew it closed. i followed the instructions and it was a lot of extra work. but other than that everything was fine. here's how mine turned out I'm really excited to wear it:

Home Sweet Homecoming

Well since last year its been my goal to design and sew my homecoming dress and this year prom too. So i want to get started ahead of time incase i need to hire a pattern maker or something along those lines. So far i have two ideas. idea #1 was inspired by a dress i saw online. heres the picture:

thats my inspiration for dress one. i really fell in love with the petaled skirt (except i would want the skirt longer so my butt wont hang out). i would change it a bit so it comes out like this:

thats just a quick idea of what i would change it too. the top would be light purple taffeta, a tan braided belt of a soft suede or something, and darker purple at the bottom w/ a flowy fabric.

alright...now idea numba two (i found this dress while reading my Allure magazine). heres the picture:

okay i honestly cant find anything that i want differently about this dress! after browsing through the fall collection (emporio armani) i really fell in love with it. the details in some of the pieces are extroidinary! -okay im back on topic...i freaking love the detail of the bodice!!! im almost positive this is my homecoming dress. however the dress is wool so i have to hunt for fabric thats the same sturdyness excepect id be choosing a periwinkle-y gray-ish colour. and i prob wouldnt get the same detailing even if i tried.

and my last idea is unclear. i know what i would want from it i just have yet to find the inspiration to come to me or me hunting it down. so what i would want from this design is something dark and edgy but yet chic. i always feel as if thats what my dress should be like and it could be a real jawdropper...if i get the right balance.

so those are my thoughts i need to get started early if its up to me to make it. well if i get any new idea-ers ill share 'em! so tell me what you think! id love to hear your input!!

p.s.- heres last years dress. bad picture of me i was rushing to get ready and i was getting annoyed, this isnt my worst picture of me though. :P

So ill be hitting up the beach for a week (finally!). i love the ocean, shopping the boardwalks at night, and spending time with most of the fam! maybe even chill with my friends (if theyre at the beach). so after sitting in the car for 4 hours, im ready to get some sun! so ill do my best to keep up with posting (i feel next post is going to be a biggie)! peace out.

So i found my camera wedged between the back seat in the minivan. now im trying to edit them but by the looks of them they need a photoshop miracle...so im thinking of redoing them since the lighting is terrible you'd think a super expensive hotel could have decent lighting, but no. i should have taken pictures outside and in the special rooms now that i think of it but those snarky, snooty, country clubbers put you to shame if you even move the wrong way (although some were very sweet and there were some cute valets too). the above concoction is just something basic for fall id probably were it to a football game or something. speaking of fall i have ideas for homecoming dresses ill share later on. bye-bye now.

The weather is wonderful lately! I just hope it stays this way for a little longer. Happy Independence Day to everyone! Whew! There's so many picnics to go to. I'll show you some pictures of fireworks then too, but for now let me show you how to make an easy and "green" hair bow.

What you need:
kool-aid jammer juice pouch
needle and thread (or sewing machine)
scissors
you should be able to make two with one pouch

first wash out the juice pouch (don't get carried away just a little rinse is fine)
lay it flat and cut it into strips about 1/2 inch wide
then peel the back side off the strips so that they aren't attached (i used a knife to ensure that they didn't tear or get ruined)
then you want to separate the fronts (printed side) from the backs (silver)
pick out two printed strips and one silver strip
then fold the ends of a printed strip under (you can adjust it if you want it smaller have the ends touch; if you want it larger then leave a gap between the ends) remember this is the bottom piece so it will need to be bigger than the other. then sew the ends down.
repeat the step above except make this piece smaller than the other because you'll be placing this on top. adjust the size to your likings. then sew the ends down and then place it on top and sew an "x" in the middle to hold them together.
now take the silver strip and fold it across the middle and cut the access off and then sew it down.
attach a bobby pin or any other hair clip that you'd like.

Your finished product(s) should look something like this:

I Have a Confession, My Own Secret Obssesion

I have a new obsession...i love polyvore! i am really happy i found it! this is my new go to thing for when I'm bored (which is quite often). i may not be amazing at it but i like it and it keeps me thinking. i even made up a little "game" about it (yeah i know how it sounds). so I'll explain my game, i should think of a name. <- oh shoot Dr. Seussin' it here! ;) back on track i don't type anything in the search box and hit enter and i can only use items on the page to make a set. lame. i know. here's how it turned out for me:

Dude, You're Clinging

Aloha! im dying to go to the beach soon!!! ok so i said id show everybody how to make these earrings heres how:

whats needed:

clay/ plaster

blank earring clip ons

paints

superglue

okay at a craft store you should be able to buy clip on earrings they arent decorated yet cause thats your job!! i bought the 5mm ones i think
alright now i used clay to make the first earrings and the others i made it with plaster so if youre using clay shape the clay to the shape you want and bake it (on the packing has how long to bake it for) if you are using plaster find some moist clay (not to moist though) and find a shape to press in the clay. when you press the object in the clay press it down decently far into the clay otherwise the earring will be thin and break. then mix up the plaster batter and pour it in the little dent you made it can take 8-12 hours to dry then just bend away the clay
next get some paint i used stencil and acryllics. just paint it how you like and let it dry
okay then get super super superglue and glue the earring to the clip on and hold there for a wee bit
youre done also if they fall off (i mostly noticed this with the plaster ones) just fix it up and glue back on good luck!!

Putting on the Ritz

This week was quite exciting 1. surprise party for my lovely friend! 2. art show 3. car show!!! i really adore those old cars!- yes it sounds silly 4. cleaned out the pavilion at my mammaw's house (seeing how dirty it was and now how clean it is) then we got ice cream cake! 5. i might be getting a car (technically not mine but mostly for my use -that's my week. on Friday i was working on a project and started to cut out triangles out of tape for a teapot and then i saw i could use a manicure so i cut out little triangles and stuck them on and painted them. i always love how my nails turn out with taping patterns on them so here's how it turned out:

i always do my thumbs differently. its not the same as the rest of the fingers so i treat it differently :P

DIY: here's a DIY that i did last summer its how to spice up some sunglasses (wayfarers can pull it off best) okay here we go

get some (cheap) sunglasses (i got mine at a beach shop for $10) then think of a pattern that would work with your shades
next draw the pattern on to tracing paper (draw it to scale of the sunglasses though -i used a zebra pattern it was more original at the time i might do a floral pattern this year)
transfer the pattern on the the sides of the glasses (i used a 1.5"x 1.5" and just moved it each time) *the pencil can be difficult to see but you can experiment with charcoal or something also don't touch it to much and only work on one side at a time
get some fabric paint in a tube that has a fine "squirter" tip as i call it then just stay inside the lines also spread it around so its a thin layer (it drys quicker and it appears like it was originally there
repeat steps 3 & 4 for the opposite side then just let it dry and there ya go!

AHHHH!!! Finally school is done for the year! No more homework, essays, or exams to do! so glad i did better than i thought on finals!! so now i'll be able to update without forgetting about this blog! well...maybe :P until i actually get started and finish up more projects and sketches and have the time to take pics! here are some more old sketches:

ahaha ^ she looks a bit wicked with the hair! this was the first time i put a legit pattern on a sketch (you cant see very well) so thats why it goes straight across

got this idea from my history textbook (theres a lot of good stuff in there) never again will i use markers it sticks out like a sore thumb

umm this didnt scan well but at the top of the dress its supposed to be sheer, gold liquid leggings. i might have been watching hannah montanna or something cause i think thats how i got that idea! well tomorrow i have to get a tooth filled (how pleasant) so peace out!

so i been stuck doing finishing up schoolwork and such and now finals are this coming week and i have a party tomorrow!! which I'm super pumped for!! i have some sketches more sketches kids:

A Genuine Imitation

mondays... :/ at least its nice out! not too much going on really. except theres only like two weeks of school left (which is bitter sweet i suppose). ill get to the point i made an embellished clutch and a little before that i made a recycled tote bag (which turned out quite nice if i do say so myself). if you want instructions to either one just ask through the comments.

"bag of bags"

you use fused plastic bags to make small sqare pieces and then sew 'em together as one big piece i used weis and forever 21 bags for the flowers.

umm...this was started in like 2008 and i only finished now but i got the pattern out a of teenvogue mag

the fabric used was linen and then polyester for the lining and stud buttons (which are pretty cool) the buttons take a while to get on but its turns out pretty nice...however the inside of the clutch is pretty crazy but its no big deal since nobody really sees it anyway. that wraps it up. cya!

yoyoyo! haha. okay I've been ~~making~~ finishing my clutch i started like last year (aah procrastination)! so I'll put pictures up later and also of a "go green bag" i made out of plastic bags (its pretty sweet how it works). maybe some of the earrings i make too. so I've been concentrating on multiple things at once and that doesn't always work, but now my main focus is to shop for more pieces that can work together and a swimsuit. i noticed H&M has cute ones cheap! so here's some more sketches:

These are the days that make me want summer!! well ive been quite busy and i still am! so i managed to find some time to squeeze this post in. so the sketches im gonna put up in a second are summerish because i want it to be summer NOW!! okay here:

Heyo! I've been sick : ( so i wasn't up to posting and today was not my best...did i mention i got my money stolen?!? yup. sucks. so anyway I've figured since the weathers been drab lately and i thought id put up fashion sketches rather than outfits that i have. i started these sketches like December of like 2008 but i don't really remember when i drew what (yes "drew" is not a word i know excuse my terrible grammar) but the new ones i drew recently ill let you know where they are (i never finished colouring them) so ill put up a few...but i know for sure these are oldie moldies (maybe march 2009)

this one (above) was kinda like a 50's inspired look

idk but i get a lot of my inspiration in the car or school bus listening to music for some random reason i think i got this idea from my life would suck w/o you by kelly clarkson...hey i get some good stuff this way!! ; )

sometimes its hard to show detail on the shoes so rarely ill just draw a shoe. ill put more up soon! peace out
